Artist's Statement

Art is a big part of my life, but not all of it.  I grew up in Maine and played soccer at Fryeburg Academy.  I studied art for the first time as a senior in high school.

My first three years of undergrad, close to my roots in Maine, were important to me.  The opportunity to draw directly from Masters originals at 'Smith College Museum of Art' while studying at UMass Amherst was unforgettable.  As I drew from master figure drawings in the archives, my line quality began to emerge.  

Art compels me, Family sustains me and makes me who I am.  I am the father of three children and step-father to one.   We are active in our community, spread out geographically along with all the chaos of a modern blended family!!
